For many fans of The Prisoner, the remake has been decades in the making.
The Prisoner 2009 is sure to illicit many different reactions and it largely depends on your knowledge of the original. You either went into the three night miniseries knowing what you were getting yourself into or not. The confusing, bizarre, randomness of the Village and these strange numbered people. For those who’ve never heard of The Prisoner or Patrick McGoohan, this might already be too much to handle.
TV viewers get confused with shows like Lost or Kings, what more with a show like The Prisoner. But that is exactly what gives The Prisoner it’s mystique. This air of mystery and adventure like none other on television.
There’s two ways to judge the miniseries, as its own personal entity and as a remake/reimagination of the cult classic. Keep reading →

After weeks of fun, it’s time to finally get down to business on Supernatural.
What an episode.

One of the most emotional episodes in the show’s history, no question. The family photo alone got me going.
But seeing Ellen and Jo sacrificing their lives like that was both extremely sad and very honorable. Sad yes, but something they, especially Ellen, would do.

Dennis plays the Gang a message from a scorned girl. He says he’s got a fool proof plan to get any girl to fall in love with him for the rest of their lives… The D.E.N.N.I.S System.
A comprehensive approach to women…
D – Demonstrate Value
E – Engage Physically
N – Nurturing Dependence
N – Neglect Emotionally
I – Inspire Hope
S – Separate Entirely
Dennis explains how he used the DENNIS System on the girl, Caylee, a cute pharmacist. He demonstrates his value as a loving grandson and an all around great guy by filling his fictitious ill grandmother’s prescription.
Frank says he would’ve gone in to buy a pack of magnum condoms, thus demonstrating he has a monster Keep reading →

All great television dramas and comedies have holiday specials, regardless of holiday. So it was only a matter of time before FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia had one of their own.
A Very Sunny Christmas, a double-length Christmas special, is being released exclusively on DVD this week and for any Sunny this is a real treat. No coal for the Sunny crew with this gem.
While it probably would have to stay 50 feet away from Charlie Brown and other traditional holiday specials, A Very Sunny Christmas is everything you love about the show mixed with a touch of the holiday spirit. Definitely a fun addition to the holidays.
A sort of Christmas Carol-esque story sees Dennis and Dee wanting Frank to Keep reading →

Miss the episode or want to see all the fun again? Download “The Real Ghostbusters” on
Well Supernatural does it again. After last week’s fun “Changing Channels,” we get another treat (and break from the Apocalypse!) with “The Real Ghostbusters.”
The show has never shied away from meta references to itself; most recently Paris Hilton’s guest role brought Jared’s House of Wax past into the show, while Kripke & Co. ingeniously created Carver Edlund and the Supernatural graphic novels. The show has a sense of humor and has no problem poking fun at itself.
In addition to introducing Chuck, the modern version of a biblical prophet and the idea of the Winchester gospels, this presented the show an opportunity for some Keep reading →

THE PRISONER

The complete original series was just released on
DVD in a new set available on

series on
And the new series plus a free preview
will be/is also available on
The Prisoner.
A sci-fi thriller probably decades before its time. A drama series that has become one of the all-time cult classics.
I never heard of the show before or the incredible Patrick McGoohan until my Media Studies professor used the series as a required text in one of my college classes.
Since then, I’ve been pulled into the world of the Village.
First of all, what is The Prisoner?
A series that premiered in 1967 in the UK and in 1968 in the US, The Prisoner was co-created by and starred Patrick McGoohan. It was a drama series, a spy-thriller, psychological thriller, and even a science-fiction series, that would go on to become a Keep reading →

Episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia available on
Dennis and Mac visit Dee to borrow a bowl for their movie night. Dee questions why the two are so joined at the hip, that they are codependent, kind of like an old married couple. They deny it… maybe.
Mac is anxiously waiting for Dennis to come home. When he finally walks through the door, Mac is upset Dennis wouldn’t answer his phone or reply to his texts, including a “911″ text. Dennis says he was busy talking to the video store clerk guy.
He takes out the movie he rented, The Transporter 2. Mac doesn’t understand, they’re supposed to be watching Predator, like they have 30 times in the last two months. Dennis says the video store clerk guy suggested it.
Mac is now jealous of the video store clerk guy. Old married couple they are.
Dennis wants to try to avoid having conversations about body mass and the male physique.
“You’d rather have conversations with video store clerk,” Mac says.
Dennis breaks the news to Mac, he feel likes he’s “not flourishing,” that their relationship is Keep reading →

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is currently debuting new episodes from its 4th season exclusively on DirecTV’s The 101 Network Wednesdays at 9PM ET/PT. The series will air on NBC sometime in 2010 (hopefully sooner rather than later!).
I think it was very beneficial for me to have watched the first two episodes back to back. The first hour kind of left me with hope, but also without. Strange feeling. But after the 2nd hour, it was back to Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.
It was probably a combination of the new faces, new setting, and missing some of our old friends that left with me that strange end of hour 1 feeling.

Regardless, Friday Night Lights is back and like many critics have pointed out, almost like a new series, but in a good way.
A little bit of a reset and definitely a perfect time to introduce the show to new viewers. So if you know of anyone who still hasn’t discovered the show, now’s a good time to do it. There’s the familiarity and stories that current fans look forward to and there’s the new stories that anyone can easily get into.
Over the summer, the news of Keep reading →

Want the music from this week’s episode? Or how about the official first soundtrack from the show? Download now on
or Order Glee: The Music, Volume 1 from Amazon.com
This week’s episode of Glee really highlighted something about many television series that may or may not be a good thing depending on how you look at it.
Many times, the supporting cast and characters are twice as interesting as the supposed lead or main characters. The Office is a good example of that, where the rest of the office is much more interesting and most of the time funnier than Jim, Pam or Michael. Maybe less is more?
On The Office, Creed usually gets one, or if we’re lucky, two zingers, two memorable quotables that top anything else that’s been uttered in that specific episode. That one or two lines end up being a lot more memorable that the latest development in Michael’s or Jim and Pam’s love life.
Maybe good things do come in small doses. And that was definitely the case in this week’s Glee. Arguably, the biggest stories on Glee are Keep reading →

Just watched the first two episodes of the 4th (4th!!!) season of Friday Night Lights back to back and wow. The show is still as good as it ever was and there is definitely a new energy that just pops off the screen. Fun, touching, dramatic… just about everything you’ve come to expect from the show and more. Missing on our old friends, but looking forward to meeting our new ones.
A full review and recap to come this weekend, but I was just too excited not to post something immediately.
Oh and Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler… still a crime they don’t have 3 Emmys on their mantles.

How Do You Solve a Problem Like NBC?
You could probably go into any college Media Studies, Film, Television, Writing, Communications class in the country and find someone who can run NBC better than those honchos currently running the oldest broadcast network on television (if you include the radio years).
In fact San Francisco Chronicle television columnist Tim Goodman witnessed that very fact.
NBC is doing too hot right now and the possibility of this huge deal with Comcast looked like a just the thing that could jump start the network.
Until they said no matter what happens, Jeff Zucker would stay in charge. Umm… that’s probably not going to help anything. One reason I was very excited about the deal with Comcast was that fresh blood would be infused into NBC Universal and hopefully that fresh blood would help Keep reading →
